Don't do it, it's just awful. I really thought I would be getting price comparisons, but no they released my information to the wolves and the calls, texts and emails started within minutes.

It was relentless. I am still unsubscribing after weeks . If you want to compare prices there must be another way, don't do it.

They are making me type 100 words, but I really have nothing else to say, so I will tell you about my grandaughter. Her name is Callie and she is 5.

She is adorable, and says I am her very best friend. She has a great sense of humor and always cheers me up when I am around her.

I am very grateful to my daughter Janet for making me a grandma. Love you Callie.

Deceptive Dealer practices

Made an inquiry via Truecar on a new Honda Accord and received 3 different offers. One, from Spreen Honda in Loma Linda CA, offered a great price and an Internet certificate which they then confirmed before I went to the dealer. Once at the dealer, the classic scam was in play whereby the price of the car was actually much higher due Dealer Add-ons. They clearly had no intention of selling the car at the teaser price and when I indicated that I did not want the overpriced, easily removable, and or worthless additions that they were asking 3k+ for, I was told I should have read the small print on their certificate. True enough, but at the end of the day, I would be much better advised to simply do business with a more reputable dealer. I believe Truecar should do more to stamp out such practices by requiring dealers to declare the actual price they are charging for a vehicle and not the deceptive offer rwhich turns out to be far lower than the asking price once on the lot.

Why is this even a thing?

It doesn’t matter what you state that you are looking for you will get many replies from dealers touting what they want you to have. What a crock!!! If you want a car don’t tell true car. If I want a particular car and color then I don’t care how many blue white black gray that you have if I’m looking red. If I’m looking for a 2019 I don’t care if you have 7 2018s in the wrong color if I want a premier I don’t care if you have an LS or an LT in a color I never asked you about and I don’t care that you have a black 2019 due in at the end of the week.

It sucks

The software is confusing. Adding and deleting cars is difficult.

The dealers that contacted me consistently offered above the Truecar average. One dealer said he will "pay" for my remaining three car payments, and when he sent me the proposal, he had added them to the price of the car!!!! Completely dishonest. At another dealership, they sent me out with the newest employee, and he couldn't even find the car I was interested in to test drive in TWO different lots, 1/2 mile apart!

What a big joke! I am better off with my credit union car buying service.

I have leased or purchased 5 cars with them in the past, and their prices and discounts were pretty reasonable. At least they are honest, and you don't have to deal with the dealers directly.

I used this service in 2015. I wanted a car.

They gave me a price and printed sheets. 1000 people began calling. Dealer said they had it. Got there told only cars on the lot had tinting and door strips.

Sad don't want this stuff and want a fresh plain car. Second dealer said they had and I said I would be pissed if not. When I got there they said not "mats" and would require "all cash" for that price and they pick the color. Bye to them then 4 days of calls from all over.

I bought a car for my daughter the better way. I went drive it and said this is out the door what you get and got a better deal anyway I would not use a service like this that sells your information to vendors for any product again in my life.

Thank you

I bought a car using Truecar in 2016, and back then, I got actual competitive pricing. Now I dont even get pricing on any vehicles.

Guest

Truecar is no longer worth using.

Guest

Totally agree. Truecar is nothing more then for dealers to get your contact info and then upsell you on more expensive vehicles. You will get endless phone calls and emails.

Guest

DO NOT use these clowns, once signed up you will receive an endless berage of phone calls and emails!

You dont get the price the certificate states and they describe the car as being a model that is not. Waste of time with true car you are paying close to MSRP price, better of going straight to the dealer and negotiating them down all they do is charge the dealer $299 when you buy the car something the dealer end up charging you for it.

Waste of Time

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I asked about a specific vehicle (Toyota 4 Runner) in DFW....in less than 24 hours, I was slammed with dozens of emails and pitch calls on my cellphone by every dealer in town - about 8. All TrueCar does is hand over all your contact data to every dealer they can find - unleash them upon you and let you deal with the junk email and high pressure phone calls.

This was NOT mentioned in their sign up process...which I consider highly unethical.

honestly, Would YOU sign up if they said..."By the way, we are forwarding EVERYTHING to everyone we freaking know" so brace yourself for endless crap for a month" . I would never use them again.

Yea, I cannot believe the traps these websites set to just take our personal data, sell it off for profit, and think that people won't eventually get fed up with this business model. We are nothing more than bait so they can get paid.

Fact is, they get paid as an affiliate to a dealership if you buy.

That affects the cost of the vehicle for sure. Cut TruCar out of the equation and save the $400 commission they get.

Guest

+1 to that. Add to which, I work at night and sleep during the day - but you don't get to sleep when dealers stared calling you @ 0800.

And I can't turn off my phone in case of a call out. Thanks for that too True Car!

Guest

100% Agree. Made the mistake of using the site as well. Worst of all, none of the cold calls, emails or "True Car Guaranteed" price came remotely close to the vehicle I was looking for (EcoDiesel Ram Laramie).

Truecar isn't working for you

If you read up on Truecar's history you'll soon learn they aren't working for you or me. They are merely an extension of the dealership. They are a lead generating site. It works like this. Enter your info. Enter the vehicle desired. Submit. Then the vulturous sales people will deluge your inbox and phone (if you were silly enough to provide a real number. i submit the number of the latest fastfood joint to *F* me in the drive thru.) They present you with whatever they want to sell but rarely what you requested. I have fun answering nonsense with nonsense but what it boils down to is, DON'T USE TRUECAR.

Ridiculous scam / waste of time

Nissan of Richmond, VA advertised a car at a specific price (car+processing fees) on Truecar.com. Called dealer before driving 45 minutes across town to check on this specific stock number..upon arrival at said dealer, was told that car was actually over 20% higher than the Truecar advertised price. Why anyone would do business with either of them under those circumstances is a mystery. not me! Audaciously deceptive. Sales practices are an indicator of the product and service being sold. This one stunk up the whole industry, as if car dealers didn't already have an image problem. Moral of this story is, Truecar is not truthful.

Cheap car to sell lian

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Web site hide behind incredible car prices trying to sell u a auto loan. I called to find how I can view a car.

5 minutes later, strong arm sales technique insisting that I should get a loan to buy the car. Told them I already have the finance arranged. 8 minutes later, back to loan. Now I made it very clear I want to make arrangements to see the car.

12 minutes later, back to auto loan. Well I said farewell. Obviously, they r using attractive cars as leads for selling car loans. Stay away from this business.

If there is an agency that monitors misleading business practices. This is one that need to be investigated

Don't Register with Truecar!

The site pretends that if you tell them exactly what you want, you'll be provide with a firm offer price for that particular vehicle. Not true! When you register, you're basically just contacting a number of nearby dealers and telling them that you're thinking of buying a car and giving them your phone number and email, which are both required to register. The model of car you tell the site you're looking for doesn't matter at all. I was immediately deluged with phone calls and email messages from dealers who DID NOT have the car I am looking for on their lots, but would say anything to get me to come to them. Worse than a waste of time, unless you love being pursued by aggressive car salespeople.

I totally agree with previous comments. If you start the registration process and then decide to back-out before you finish the registration you will be too late and immediately be bombarded with phone calls and emails by aggressive sales people.

Ridiculous process.

I will never use them again and want everyone to know to stay away! I have also emailed them my displeasure.
